How to make Star Fetchers interactive on TikTok LIVE

To make Star Fetchers interactive, you connect the game to your TikTok LIVE with a small bridge program, then map gifts to in-game actions like a super jump or a ragdoll yeet. With TikPlays that takes three steps and no port forwarding.

What interactive Star Fetchers actually looks like

Star Fetchers is a hard platformer, which makes it a good fit for chat control. One mistimed jump costs a heart, so every viewer action has an immediate, visible effect on whether you make the next gap.

In the interactive version, viewers do not control the character directly. They send gifts, and each gift you have mapped fires an action on the player: a speed boost, a bigger jump, a shove, a slippery floor. Half of the actions help you and half make your life worse, so chat ends up deciding whether the jump lands.

What you need before you start

You need Star Fetchers installed from Steam, a Windows PC, a TikTok account that can go LIVE, and a TikPlays account. Whether your account can go LIVE depends on your region and account, so check TikTok's own LIVE settings rather than trusting a number you read online.

You also need something to put the game on stream, either TikTok LIVE Studio or OBS. TikPlays works alongside either one, so keep whichever you already use.

Connect Star Fetchers to your TikTok LIVE

The setup is short because the bridge does the hard part. Star Fetchers runs its gameplay through Lua, so the bridge installs a tiny mod next to the game's own script and then hands each action to the running game as it happens. It finds the game by itself, and nothing else gets installed.

  1. Run the TikPlays Star Fetchers bridge and paste in your dashboard API key.
  2. Start Star Fetchers and play any level. The bridge installs its mod and finds the game by itself.
  3. On the TikPlays dashboard, map gifts (and follows, likes, shares and joins) to actions.
  4. Pick Star Fetchers when you Connect on the dashboard, then go LIVE on TikTok.

Do a test before you announce anything. Fire an action from the dashboard, or have a friend send a cheap gift, and check that your character reacts. It is much better to find a mapping mistake in a private run than in front of a full room.

The 20 actions your viewers can trigger

There are ten helpful actions and ten troublesome ones. Gifts that arrive between levels wait until the next level is actually playing, so a gift sent during a loading screen is not wasted.

Here is the full list, grouped the way they appear on the dashboard.

A few of these are easy to misread. Setback teleports you back the way you came, while Instant death sends you to the last checkpoint. Cleanse (listed as Shake it off) clears every troll effect at once, which makes it a useful gift to keep in reserve.

Which gifts should trigger what

Match the size of the gift to the size of the consequence. A small gift should do something you can laugh off, like chip damage or a short slow. Save the effects that wreck a run, such as Instant death or a Yeet, for gifts that feel like a bigger moment.

Keep a few help actions on cheap gifts too. If chat can only hurt you, the stream turns into a punishment loop and people stop sending gifts. A viewer who can save you with a super jump over a gap you keep missing feels like they did something good.

Use follows, likes, shares and joins too

Gifts are not the only trigger. Follows, likes, shares and viewers joining the LIVE can be mapped to any action, which means people who are not spending anything still get to affect the run.

A classic setup is a join that sends a little shove. Every new viewer nudges you, the chat sees it happen, and joining feels like part of the show. A share mapped to a Speed boost is another easy one, because it gives people a reason to share the stream.

Tips for running it on stream

Star Fetchers punishes small mistakes, so tell chat the rules out loud in the first minute. Say what the cheap gift does, what the expensive one does, and that Shake it off clears all trolls. A pinned message or a short LIVE title helps people who join late.

Do not mute the chaos. The funniest moments are when a Slippery floor lands right before a tight jump, so react to it. If you are trying to clear a level hard, say so, because viewers will often send helpful gifts when they can see you are struggling.

If you also want overlays, goal bars, a top-gifter board or a giveaway wheel on the same stream, those are included and are added as browser source links.

Add voice and sound around the game

The interactive part is the gifts, but the stream gets more fun when something reacts out loud. The TikPlays Windows desktop app can read gifts and chat aloud, and it also has an AI co-host and sound alerts.

It is optional. Plenty of people start with just the gift mappings and add the extras once they know how their audience behaves.

Fixing the common problems

If nothing happens when a gift arrives, first check that the bridge is running and that you pasted the right API key. Then check that you picked Star Fetchers when you hit Connect on the dashboard.

If an action seems to be missing, make sure you were actually in a level. Actions that arrive between levels wait for the next level to start, so they will not fire on a menu. If a particular gift does nothing, open its mapping and confirm it is assigned to an action.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need port forwarding?
No. Setup is a dashboard link plus the bridge program, with no port forwarding.
Can followers and likes trigger actions, or only gifts?
Follows, likes, shares and viewers joining the LIVE can all be mapped to any action, alongside gifts. A join that sends a small shove is a popular choice.
What happens if a gift arrives between levels?
