How to Make GTA V Train Driver Interactive on TikTok LIVE
Install the Train Driver mod, connect it to TikPlays, and map TikTok gifts to actions like dropping a bus on the tracks or slamming the brakes. You drive the train, chat owns the line in front of it.
What GTA V Train Driver actually is
GTA V Train Driver is a PC story-mode mod that puts you in the cab of the Los Santos freight train and keeps you there. You are not steering, because a train has nowhere to steer to. All you control is how fast you are going and whether you are still on the rails when the next thing appears.
Everything in front of you is chat. Gifts drop cars, vans, buses, big rigs and tanks onto the track, stack shipping containers across the line, or park a police roadblock in your path. Other gifts go straight for the throttle. The clock is a distance counter: get the train to your goal in one piece while viewers do everything they can to stop it.
What you need before you start
This is a single-player PC mod, so it runs on your own copy of GTA V in story mode. It is not an online or console setup. Check TikTok's own LIVE settings for what your account and region need before you can go live, because those requirements vary.
- GTA V for PC, loaded in story mode
- ScriptHookV and ScriptHookVDotNet 3 (the installer can handle these)
- A TikPlays account and your API key from the dashboard
- TikTok LIVE Studio or OBS to broadcast and show overlays
Install the mod
The manual route is to install ScriptHookV and ScriptHookVDotNet 3, then drop GtaTrainTikPlays.dll and its .ini file into your GTA V scripts folder. If you would rather not touch folders, the TikPlays Train installer does all three steps for you.
There is no port forwarding involved. The mod talks out to TikPlays, so your router stays untouched.
Connect it and take the cab
Setup takes a few minutes once the files are in place.
- Open the .ini file and paste in your API key from the TikPlays dashboard.
- Launch GTA V and load story mode.
- Press F7 to take the cab of the nearest train.
- If there is no train nearby, press F9 to spawn one.
- Confirm the game is connected on your dashboard before you go live.
Do a dry run offline first. Trigger a few actions from the dashboard so you know what a bus on the tracks looks like at cruise speed before viewers do it for you.
Map gifts to actions
On your TikPlays dashboard, assign each TikTok gift to an action. The mod has 44 of them, grouped into the line ahead, the throttle, hazards, help for the driver and flavour.
A simple starting layout: cheap gifts get the small stuff like a car on the tracks, a horn blast or nudging the throttle up. Mid-priced gifts get the buses, vans and full throttle. Save the big gifts for the moments that end runs, like a tank on the tracks, a police roadblock, derail the train or a runaway train.
Keep a few help actions on gifts too. A repair, a ghost train that phases obstacles away, or bullet time gives chat a reason to cheer for the driver as well as against you. Follows, likes, shares and chat can trigger things in many TikPlays games too, so consider putting a cheap action like a horn blast on follows.

Set your goal and cruise speed
The game is a distance counter, so your goal decides how long a run lasts. Pick a distance that fits a few minutes of stream time. A run that finishes too quickly gives viewers nothing to build toward, and one that drags on wears people out.
Cruise speed sets the baseline before any gift hits. A slower cruise gives you more time to react to what chat drops in front of you. A faster one makes every obstacle a genuine threat. Start slow, then raise it once you see how your chat behaves.
Add overlays and go live
Overlays are links you paste into OBS or TikTok LIVE Studio as a browser source. Add your goal bar, top-gifter and chat overlays so viewers can see who is causing the damage. TikPlays works alongside either broadcasting tool.
The game is always set to midday on purpose, so every viewer can see what is coming down the track. Keep your game capture clean and your overlays out of the way of the track ahead.

Run a better stream once you are live
Say the rules out loud at the start. Tell viewers which gift drops a bus, which one hits the brakes and what the distance goal is. New viewers join constantly, so repeat it every few minutes.
React to each gift by name. When someone sends a Derail the train gift, make the moment big. Recognition is what makes people send a second gift.
Reset cleanly after a wreck. Use Repair the train or Clear the line as a short breather, then restart the distance counter with a fresh goal so there is always something to chase.
