In GTA V Train Driver you only control speed while chat controls everything on the track, so the best gift map is a ladder: cheap gifts nudge and annoy, mid gifts drop vehicles, and big gifts wreck the run. Here is how to lay that ladder out, what to keep on your side, and which combos make viewers keep sending.
What viewers actually get to do

- Mid gifts: real threats. A bus, a big rig, shipping containers across the line, a police roadblock, slamming the brakes, or a smoke cloud over the cab.
- Big gifts: run enders. A tank on the tracks, a whole junction's worth of traffic, a wall of vehicles, the runaway train, reverse at speed, an explosion on the line, or a derail.
Pacing cheap gifts versus big ones
A small crowd will send a lot of cheap gifts and very few big ones. If your only interesting outcomes sit behind the expensive gift, most of your stream will feel empty. Put your most fun cheap effects, like the horn, a random vehicle on the tracks, or a throttle nudge, on the gifts people send every minute.
Keep the big gifts rare on purpose. When someone finally sends the one that drops a tank in front of a train at full speed, everyone should see it coming, because the game runs at midday so nothing hides in the dark. That visible countdown to impact is the whole show, so do not bury it under a constant stream of mid-size chaos.
If you have a goal distance, set it so a run lasts long enough for a few cheap gifts to land before something serious does. A run that ends in thirty seconds teaches viewers that gifting is pointless.
Throttle gifts: the underrated ones
Vehicles get the attention, but the throttle actions change how every other gift feels. Full throttle makes the next obstacle arrive faster. Slam the brakes or a dead stop buys you time and gives chat a reason to send something else while you sit there.
Runaway train and throw it in reverse are the funniest big-gift throttle effects, because they turn your own plan against you. Ease off the throttle is a good cheap gift for anyone who wants to be a small mercy, and it gives viewers a way to help without paying for a rescue.
Helpful versus harmful: keep some gifts on your side
If every gift hurts you, chat learns to only gift when they want to watch you fail. Map a few help actions so viewers can pick a side. Repair the train, heal, full armour and health, and brief invincibility work well at low to mid price points.
Ghost train phases obstacles away for a few seconds, so it makes a great save after a big vehicle drop. Guards riding the roof are a good answer to gunmen boarding. Bullet time is the best one for big moments, because you get to watch the impact in slow motion.
A useful rule is roughly one helpful gift for every two harmful ones. Then a rescue feels earned, and a rival group of gifters can literally fight a tug of war over whether you survive.
Combos that make chat compete
Combos are where Train Driver stops being a list of gifts and turns into a story. Chat does not need to coordinate, they just need to react to what is already on the line.
Here are a few that work because each step is visible and each has a possible counter.
- Set up and strike: someone drops shipping containers across the line, then someone else hits full throttle. Nobody has to plan it.
- Save and betray: a viewer sends the ghost train to clear a bus, and a second viewer sends reverse at speed while it is active.
- Slow-mo finish: brakes slammed on, then a tank rolls onto the track, then bullet time so the collision plays out for the camera.
- Hazard pile-on: fog rolls in, an earthquake starts, and a meteor barrage lands while you are trying to read the track.
- Mercy round: heal, repair the train and clear the line, sent by viewers who feel bad about the last five minutes.
