What interactive Driftwood actually looks like

What you need before you start
The setup is short, but check these first so you are not troubleshooting mid-stream.
- Driftwood installed on your PC, and a TikTok account that can go LIVE. LIVE eligibility, such as follower minimums, varies by region and account, so check TikTok's own LIVE settings.
- A TikPlays account with your dashboard open. The Driftwood mod reads an API key from the dashboard.
- TikTok LIVE Studio or OBS to actually broadcast the game.
- A few minutes to install MelonLoader, which is the mod loader Driftwood needs.
No port forwarding is involved. The mod talks out to the dashboard rather than waiting for incoming connections, so you do not need to touch your router.
Step-by-step: connect Driftwood to your LIVE
Do this once on the PC that runs the game. Launch Driftwood a single time after installing MelonLoader so it creates its folders.
- Install MelonLoader on Driftwood. Once it is installed, launch the game once and close it so the Mods and UserData folders exist.
- Drop the TikPlays Driftwood mod into the Mods folder inside the game directory.
- Open your TikPlays dashboard, copy your API key, and paste it into the mod's config file at UserData/TikPlaysDriftwood.cfg. Save the file.
- On the dashboard, map your gifts to actions. Start with a handful, not all twenty.
- Pick Driftwood when you hit Connect on the dashboard, then start the game and go LIVE. Send a test gift or ask a friend to, and confirm the effect lands before you announce it to chat.
If nothing happens, the usual culprits are a mistyped API key in the cfg file or the mod sitting outside the Mods folder. Fix those first before looking anywhere else.
Why it works in solo runs and lobbies
The mod is built on Driftwood's Mono backend and calls the game's own physics and scoring code. Nothing is hooked at the OS level and no memory is poked, so effects go through the same systems the game already uses.
Driftwood's online mode is lightweight ghost racing, and the board and score run client-side. That means every effect works whether you are riding solo or in a lobby. You do not need a special server or a private match.
The 20 actions your viewers can trigger
There are ten actions that help you and ten that make the run worse. Here is the full list as it appears on the dashboard.
The helpers include a constant tailwind, an instant speed kick, slow-motion for lining up a trick, points onto the board, a wider camera, extra grip, a checkpoint dropped on the spot, a recover to your last checkpoint, floaty jumps and a crash guard. The harmful ones include a headwind, an outright wipeout, sped-up everything, a score tax, a keyhole camera, an inverted camera, no grip, a dead stop, held brakes and a wobbling deck.
How to map gifts so it stays fun
The mapping decides whether your stream feels fair. A good rule is to put the mild effects on cheap gifts and the run-ending ones on expensive gifts. Otherwise a few small gifts can wipe you out over and over and viewers get bored of watching you fail.
Split helpers and harm across your gift tiers on purpose. For example, put Tailwind, Grip boost and Score bonus on small gifts so chat can feel like it is helping. Put Headwind, Score tax and Board wobble on mid-range gifts. Save Wipeout, Dead stop and Inverted camera for the gifts you want to feel like an event.
Keep a couple of rescue actions on gifts as well. Fresh checkpoint and Crash guard give chat a way to save a run, which creates drama in both directions. If everything only punishes you, viewers learn that gifting equals watching you lose.
- Start with 6 to 8 mapped gifts and add more once you see what chat reaches for.
- Make the funniest actions the ones you can react to, like Inverted camera and Tunnel vision.
- Pair a punishing gift with its counter, such as Headwind with Tailwind, so viewers can fight each other.
Running the stream
