Gift Rocket is a simple idea: a rocket sits on your screen with an altitude gauge next to it. Viewers send gifts, the gifts add thrust, and the rocket climbs live. You pick a target altitude, and chat spends the whole stream trying to reach it.
It works because viewers can see the effect of every gift right away. A small gift nudges the rocket up. A big gift launches it. Nobody has to explain the rules, because the gauge does it for you.
What you need before you start
Gift Rocket runs as a browser overlay, so there is nothing to install and no game to buy. If you can already stream to TikTok LIVE with OBS or TikTok LIVE Studio, you have most of it covered.
- A TikTok account that can go LIVE. Requirements such as follower minimums vary by region and account, so check your own LIVE settings in TikTok.
- OBS, or TikTok LIVE Studio if you prefer it. Either can show a browser source.
- A TikPlays account, where you get your personal overlay link and the gift mapping page.
- A rough idea of which gifts you want to count as small and which as big.
Step-by-step setup
The whole setup is three steps. Do it once before you go live and test it with a friend or a second account if you can.
- Open your TikPlays dashboard, find Gift Rocket, and copy the overlay URL.
- In OBS, add a Browser Source to your scene, paste the URL, and size it so the rocket and gauge are visible without covering your face or gameplay.
- Back in the dashboard, map your gifts to boost tiers and set the target altitude you want chat to reach.
- Go live and watch the first gift move the rocket.
There is no port forwarding involved. The overlay is just a link, and the dashboard connects it to your live gifts.
Map your gifts to boost tiers
Gift Rocket has two gift tiers you map yourself: Boost and Mega Boost. A Boost is worth 5 km by default. A Mega Boost is worth 30 km by default. You decide which gifts land in which tier.
A practical split: put your cheap, common gifts in Boost so the rocket moves all the time. Put a few big gifts in Mega Boost so they feel like an event. If everything is a Mega Boost, the gauge fills fast and the run ends early.
Watch out for one thing. TikTok sometimes sends gift names with stray spaces or odd characters. If a gift you mapped does nothing, re-select it from the dashboard list instead of typing the name.
Free triggers: follows, shares, likes and joins
Gifts are not the only thing that moves the rocket. Follows and shares add thrust too, which gives viewers who are not spending anything a way to help. That is good for your live audience, because the room feels like it is pushing together.
- Follow: worth 5 km.
- Share: worth 3 km.
- Likes: worth 1 km per 100 likes. Off by default.
- Joining the stream: worth 2 km. Off by default.
Follows and shares are on by default. Likes and joins are off, which is sensible, because likes come in fast and can push the gauge on their own. Turn them on if you want a busy room to feel busier, and lower your gift tiers to compensate.
Pick a target altitude that fits your audience
The target altitude decides how long a run lasts. Set it too low and chat wins in five minutes. Set it too high and viewers give up.
Use the defaults to do the maths. A Boost is 5 km and a Follow is 5 km, so a target of 100 km needs about 20 of either. A Mega Boost at 30 km covers a big chunk of that alone. Start with a target you would expect a normal stream to reach in about 20 to 30 minutes, then adjust after your first session.

Tips to keep viewers sending gifts
The rocket does the work of showing results, but you still need to set it up as a moment. A few habits make a large difference.
- Say the goal out loud when you go live: what altitude you are aiming for and which gifts count as Mega Boosts.
- React to each Mega Boost. A short shout-out is enough.
- Reset the target after each win and make the next one slightly higher.
- Put the gauge where viewers can read it on a phone screen, not just on desktop.
- Put the altitude in your LIVE title so people who join late know what is going on.
